Business Context: Client engaged SPA to conduct a prior art search from late 1800s, specifically focusing on two non- English speaking countries.

SPA Approach: It was a daunting task as indexing of commercial databases started much later than the specified start year. However, SPA identified right resources in non-English speaking countries to perform searches in local languages and eventually translated into English. This exercise resulted in retrieving only a part of the literature. The other part required screening hard copies from libraries that maintained records close to a century.

Turnaround Time: The project was challenging with respect to accessibility of information, providing accurate translation of foreign language documents and working within the timeframe defined by the client. SPA successfully completed the project exceeding client’s expectations. SPA’s enthusiasm to work on such challenging projects inspires in providing successful results.

Results: Comprehensive search from late 1800s in a foreign language jurisdiction helped uncover the most pertinent art useful to the client.
